Hands-on John F.Barnes,PT, Myofascial Release (MFR) Therapy can help relieve pain caused by everyday activities like sitting, standing, walking, driving, work and leisure activities. Most patients who have suffered from pain and limited function for years have reported that MFR treatments provided improvements and relief. Combined with a new awareness of total health and wellness, the Myofascial Release Approach brings increased energy, relief of symptoms, and balance.
To fully understand Myofascial Release(MFR), one must understand what "fascia" means.
Fascia is a tough connective tissue. It is a continuous or web-like tissue that connects to and is in contact with all body systems.
Since the fascia act as a single unit, disruptions or restrictions caused by injury, surgery, poor posture, extreme fatique, stress, inflammation, or disease can cause hardening or tightening of the tissues.
The resulting symptoms may be at the site itself or may present themselves in other areas of the body. When restrictions occur, they exert enormous strain and pressure throughout the body. These in turn cause bracing and holding patterns in posture that perpetrate and increase restrictions ratl than release it.
Fascial restrictions pull on muscles, organs, and bony structures, causing pain and limited movement.
Myofascial Release is both the logical and appropriate treatment in dealing with chronic pain and limited mobility caused by these restrictions.
Equine and Animal Therapy is available as well using the same Myofascial release techniques.
Besides Myofascial release techniques, we offer Reiki/Energy Work, Therapeutic Touch,Craniosacral Therapy, Traditional Massages ranging from Prenatal Focus, Sports Massage,Deep Tissue Massage to say the least! Guided Imagery, Meditation, and Yoga Stretch Classes/Workshops are also available.
